Hi all,
It's finally happening. I have, together with Teacher Marian from Klubben, revived an old tradition of the fourth grade going to Gamla Stan in the beginning the school term. We are currently going to be working with Stockholm/Sweden as one of our Social Studies topics, so this is a great opportunity to gain some perspective on a part of Stockholm's History.
The excursion will take place on Thursday, September 14th. We will meet at school 08:20 as always, and we will be leaving sometime between 8:30-9:00. Our lovely students are going to be outside the entire day so here's what they have to bring:
Suitable outdoor clothing, (weather dependant)
Small backpack,
Non spill water bottle,
Pencil and eraser,
In addition to this, the students are more than welcome to bring their own lunch this day, but lunch is ordered and will indeed be provided for everyone by the kitchen if need be. If you choose to send your child with a packed lunch from home, I expect it will follow our regular lunch rules, thereby not containing any nuts, snacks, candy, crackers, juice, soda etc.
I also encourage you to send your child with up to 35 sek for an ice-cream. This is going to be a really long and tiresome day, so something sweet would brighten up the day and renew their energy after lunch. If you have an issue with this, please email me before Friday this week (8 September). I am just doing my best trying to see to it that motivation stays high throughout the long day.
Now, if you're home alone with nothing to do, and if you can be non-clingy and impartial to your own child, you're more than welcome to join us on this excursion. An extra helper is always welcome when we're out and about.
Lastly, I'm in the midst of planning a second outing to Skansen together with 4a, but this information will follow on a later date, once the 4a teachers can work out an open spot in their schedule.
