Dear Guardians,
We're finally finishing up our slow start to the school year. In relation to this, I will finally inform you about the homework routines already set in place.
The students are supposed to read in their library books five evenings a week, for 10-15 min. If your child has chosen an appropriate book, it should take about 2 weeks to finish up a book. In accordance to this, the students must finish a summary, a character development paper and a book record sheet. Once these three papers are in the folder at school, the students are allowed to use the morning break to return and find a new book in the library. Please ask your child how far they've come with their reading books, as they really should be finishing up their books and be ready to get a new book on Monday.
Math, English, Science and Social Studies homework, for now, is only to complete unfinished classroom work. This is until I get a general read on student performance levels. Adding to this, a fair amount of students are bringing home their math workbooks today, making sure page 1-3 are finished by next week.
Now, we have an hour of dedicated study help split on Tuesday and Wednesday's lunch break. During the study time, the students can finish unfinished work, complete missed work, or present general academic inquires in regards to their studies. Tuesdays from 11:40-12:10 is in our classroom, and respectively Wednesdays in 5en with Mr. Wilkinson
In addition to this HW information, I have added a link to Studyladder on the right hand side of the blog, right under my profile. All students have received a login and password for this, and I have assigned an array of assignments relating to the current topics. For English - general reading comprehension work, for Math - number knowledge, and for Science - chemistry assignments, as we just started our long term chemistry project today. I can track the progress of the assigned work on studyladder, but this is merely additional related work, which is not mandatory.
I think that's it.

Email list
It's mind boggling how I'm not passed out yet.
I just sent out an email to all the email addresses that I received in the pile of forms to fill in from the first day at school. Now, it's most definitely tiresome for my head to copy all the addresses as Skolwebb is currently buggy to it its replacement programme slowly being integrated, so I most definitely must have made a few errors. Therefore, if you didn't receive an email to all parents from me, well then please mail me, so I can resend it ASAP :)
Please DO NOT FORGET to read the previous post about our upcoming development talks.

I'm back - Conference times
Hi all,
As I have been way for a few days, it is about time that I catch up with everything. First of all, we will have our development talks next week (week 36), which guides the way for my second point… creating a working class email list. I had, as of Tuesday last week (w34), not received everyone’s information, and was, therefore, unable to create an emergency contact list/email list. I’ll make this list as fast as I can. In addition to this, the times for the development talks can be inconvenient, but it is up to you to find another parent/student to switch with between yourselves, if you can’t make the given time. It is also to be said that this, the first development talk, will take place in groups of three-four students at a time.
Week 36 development talks:

Now that you have skimmed and found the time that you and your child has to attend, we have to get on with further information.
If your child does NOT attend Klubben, it is absolutely critical that your child leaves the school premises once the school ends at 12:45 on these two days.
To clarify regarding PE and swimming - ambiguous or unclear? I don’t know! But, as there is some confusion in regards to swimming, I’ll address it now. The regular swimming lessons should begin in spring, so for this Autumn term, we will not have anymore swimming classes. PE is, therefore, always regular gym, either outside or inside in our PE facilities. I’m sorry for any confusion and inconvenience this lack of information has caused so far.
Also, there has been an issue in regards to misuse of phones, a separate email will follow to the ones implicated. It was always the plan to have a mobile hotel during school hours, but in my absence this was not implemented before this morning. If one of your children is seen using their phone during school hours, the phone will be confiscated and a parent will have to sign it out in the principal’s office, during his hours. Hopefully my mobile hotel will negate any such future behavior.
In other news, things are finally starting to fall in place. I took a few pictures of our first days together, and once I have collected everyone’s photography approvals, I can finally post the pictures. And, as I’m writing this piece, the majority of my coming planning has been done, thereby finally starting my academic schedule for the coming school year, which I am very much looking forward to.

Swimming Tuesday, August 22
Hi everyone,
This is just your friendly reminder in regards to tomorrow's PE lesson. Tomorrow we will head out to Vanadisbadet for a swim test, so please, PLEASE, remember to send your child to school with swimwear, a towel, and a padlock for the lockers.

Friday + Info
For your information!
For tomorrow, it is almost certainly going to rain, but this will not change our plans. Once attendance is taken, we will be making our way to Hagaparken for some games, a snack, and lunch. Your child may even make such a preposterous claim as of actually being permitted to bring a snack such as a Swedish "bulle" (cinnamon bun), scone or similar piece of goodness or the regular fruit/vegetable, and this is very much true for tomorrow only :)
As always, the school rule is that we only drink water in school, so only water in the water bottles - no juice or soft drinks. Also, no candy, crackers, cookies etc. as these are always unacceptable at school and excursions.
I'm writing this post a little late, as I have been laminating and cutting all of the name tags we made today. Such tedious work takes time, but it is more fun than the next hour of sorting the forms that you have so generously filled in for me... Thank you very much! And, in while mentioning forms, I'm attaching a picture of the "Home Language" form that you will have seek out and fill in at the school office.
Have a great day everyone,

Welcome 4en!
Dear Guardians,
Today was the first day of school, and what a joy to see so many familiar faces, but also to greet a few newcomers welcome. Though we wish that all of our days could be as short as today, unfortunately reality is about to set in. Take some time to read the bundle of papers that you received today. Please fill in the forms, and sign and return anything in need of signing.
Now, I will seek out the information in regards to "Home Language", and other than that I just wanted to welcome you all again. I'm certain that we're going to make this a fun and exiting time for your children/my students. Also, an extra thanks to the two volunteers for class rep, I'll also find any forms needed for that ASAP.
