Hi Everyone,
Here I am, following the irrational fears I had about a week ago. I spent the first two days trying to calm down, and was finally able to after a session on Sunday. In addition to this, I've spent the past week at home, as with my little ones have had symptoms of colds and were not allowed to go to school. For now, I feel well rested and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how attending work again on Monday will go. For the few that attend school, please remember that the school is closed on Tuesday, for the teachers to coordinate and streamline the situation.
After the meeting on Tuesday, I will of course update you with the guidelines etc. that follows, but unless otherwise is stated, I will provide the guidelines for what to study from home to keep on track with what's covered in class. I' m happy to see that quite a few of you logged in to Studyladder, Nomp and ReadTheory, where I can follow your progress. But, even if you practiced and did your work elsewhere I would like to thank you for staying on track and working hard individually using any of the sites and services we have available.
Whispers have told me, that the students at school have worked diligently with the plans I've sent to the office, and it looks as if they've had a great time with Mr. Wilkinson. But, I'm very much looking forward to assess how far we've gotten and how to move forward together from this. If everything goes as planned, we're back on Track by the end of Thursday. We'll work on how teams chat can be used for distance teaching, we'll compile the religion work you've all researched, address any issues encountered in "Another Day, Another Dollar" or Money and Consumer math at IXL, and lastly take a look at how to work with ReadTheory, as I can follow and have already seen a few problems we can address.
I hope you're all well, and if you're still worried it's up to each good citizen to make the most appropriate choices for them and their loved ones.

Current focus.
Hi 6en,
As I'm at home with Freja, I will just update everyone on the main focus of the classwork that is supposed to be covered this week. We're currently researching Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism a bit more in depth than previously.
These are the questions that guide our studies this week.
Guided inquiry to answer (…Insert your chosen religion):
- This is what god is like in…
- This is how the world was created according to…
- These are the rules that guide the way we live in…
- According to… this is the meaning of life…
- This is what happens to people of faith after death in…
- These are the sacred texts, when they were written and the most important part of the books that guide…
- This/These are the founders/prophets of…. And how they’re connected to…
- Rituals at birth and death in….
- The wedding, who decides our partners and where does the wedding take place in…
- These are the religious structures and temples of…
Once we have completed this inquiry for a religion, with a short paragraph per question (MAX half a page per question, keep it concise), we move on to the next religion. Within this week we're experts on religion, and next week we can hopefully compare them to one another, and see what we have all found.
Please don't start with your own religion at first, but try to develop your understanding of another religion. You will get your time to share when we gather all the information next week.
We're also currently working with everyday economics. Our workbook Another Day, Another Dollar can be worked in at school, or possibly picked up from there.
I will try to shake it up a bit as well, but these are the two focus areas this week. It'll be hard to keep track of who's done what and gotten this far, but we'll try to compile everything next week. At least the research for two religions completed by Monday next week. Remember that researching means that you also understand what you're writing down.
For now the plan may look different from day to day at school, but now we know what we at least need to focus on this week.

Your usernames would be preferred as firstnameRBG so it'll be easy to sort you all.
I hope you're all well, and I hope to see everyone again soon. Take care.

Corona Virus Times
Hi Everyone,
For now Rödabergsskolan is still following the state protocols. All absence has to be reported via app or by calling into the office, but currently all absence is approved as far as what we've been told.
Looking at the progression in other countries we were Tuesday tasked with starting to develop and prepare ourselves for teaching or keeping the students active via online communication.
Before anything is to happen I'll just clarify something to the extend of my understanding, which may be incorrect, but I think it isn't

As we're a public school there's only 3 ways to shut down the school:
- If the union's in school work environment representative closes the school - He can do it with the union and it's all good the school would close, or without the union to where he would be fined an immensely large fine and possibly lose that position of power.
- Same goes for the principal, he would also be fined if he was to close a public school without the ministry of educations consent.
- The municipality or government closes schools.
So, everyone that can close the school would be fined or worse, to my understanding.
Now.... Wait.
It'll be extremely hard to stick completely to the curriculum and planned out tasks, but we can cover similar topics and more via online platforms. Most of the class will already be familiar with Studyladder, and I have currently filled an immense workload of tasks for our students to freely work through. During school hours one can practice as much as one's heart desires.
If we were to close the school, I would, via mail and here, update with some daily assignments such as take a walk and find signs of spring etc. to supplement pure academic static online practice.
We're in 6th grade now, and I will send the complete list of logins to all parents, so our students don't find themselves in a silly state wanting to login to someone else's account. Please only inform your child of their own login information. This can be used anytime from now on if you are at home, but if you want to use it outside of school hours, the same 3 tasks a day rule stands unless one is willing to pay for the service.
We also have our access to Nomp, and I will create accounts for our two new students when I get the time. This is an online math skills training site covering the Swedish curriculum for math grade 1-9, so one just chooses grade 6 practice and gets going. :)this is a paid service that our class has paid for, so this is fully available all hours of the day.
I will try to rework my plans into possible tasks, if the school was to shut down!, but for now the curricular activities are still planned for face to face teaching in class.

Playing Games
Hi Everyone,
Before the holiday break we bid farewell to Mangsheng, who's departure from class was scheduled, planned and not at all surprising, but on Friday we bid Shifa farewell, which was on very short notice, so we hope everything works out and we may have her back at the school in a few months. Things may change, but she's welcome back.
Thursday is going to be spent on Finishing up Geometry, and Friday will be the end test for this segment. Next week we will work our way into Probability and Math in home settings (conversions, budgets.) Below you can find pictures of us playing our student crafted geometry games in class from today, to where probability will be a natural topic to touch base next.
For English we're currently working with the book White Bird, by R.J Palacio, and the book is looking very promising so far, with lots of suspense and historical implication in a World War II setting.
We're going to have an intense crash course on European geography of countries and mountain ranges, so feel free to practice at home using https://online.seterra.com/en/l/eur
On Fridays we're changing up our quiz of the week, and we will on Friday watch a few clips from Countdown, and from now on end our weeks with a game of countdown. This is an game involving word and number tasks to reinforce the basics before our upcoming National Tests.
The test dates are:
English: March 31, April 2
Mathematics: May 5, May 7
Edit: Pi Day celebrated on Monday, which means that there will be the yearly competition on who knows the most digits of Pi with no mistakes. Practice at home, as the competition is in two parts on Monday.

Ice-skating a some homework for week 9.
Hi Everyone,
The Ice-skating today was a great success that was followed up by watching The Princess Bride.
Below you can find all the pictures from today's ice-skating, and some pictures of the work we're doing in Mathematics.
We're making 13 help pages for Geometry. We will take pictures of these so the 2020/21 fourth graders can take help in the work we've finished. Thirteen is the end goal, and we'll have two hours to finish up on the Tuesday of week 10, but 8-9 pages finished on Thursday was expected, so some of us have a few pages to reach 8-9 for homework to complete over the holidays. - Just remember to find time for reading in the evenings as well.
We finished our sexual education with a quiz last week, and two weeks ago we went through every question on the test. Our students were to get a minimum of 25/50 points, so a few will be re-taking the test on Tuesday week 10. All of our students received the test back yesterday and brought it home, so we can help our parents understand. And the few that received a score below 25 will need to ask their parents for a bit of help catching up over the holidays.
Below are two examples of finished decimals help sheets, complete in colors with borders and exceptionally eye catching titles. This is the style we're trying to recreate with our geometry topics. You can find pictures of some work we've done with 3d design/volume, current work on knowledge sheets and lastly our ice-skating pictures from today. I have some video files as well, but I'll have to work out how to put them on this blog again.
Have a great time off week 9, and I'm looking very much forth to being back with you in week 10 again!!

YES! ICE-SKATING!
Hi Everyone,
After budget cuts at school and sickness in my family, I have finally figured out how and when to go Ice-skating.
We're set for Friday, and we're going to Kungsträdgården. You're welcome to bring hot chocolate, tea and a snack (eatable by hand/non messy). We're starting at school in class at 08:20, and we'll make our way to the skating rink, arriving around 09:00-09:30.
Bring your ice-skates if you have. I only had 7 students state that they didn't have ice-skates, and we won't have enough of a budget to rent for more than this.
- Warm woolly socks
- Warm pants
- Warm jacket
- Gloves hat and helmet
Bring a lunch pack as well. We all love our parents cooking, but it needs to be able to be eaten by hand, as we're planning on being back at school, but eating and socializing in class before the sports holidays next week.
If your child doesn't have suitable clothing for the weather, I will call for parents Friday morning to come and pick up their child at school where they will wait outside the office.
- Parents please join us! From school or at the rink, if you want to socialize with each other and see your kids on the rink please join us!
We end three years together, the same way we began it. Although the group has changed over the years.
